Posted: 08 Dec 2008 10:19 AM PST Impasse 13, Alexis Mabille SS09 collection is very interesting contrast between very serious military like night time attire and an extremely soft prep school chic. Using the finest starched cotton pique, glazed summer wools, shiny duchess silk satin and crisp straw fabrics he is able to create beautifully graphic construction lines. I just love this collection! Posted: 08 Dec 2008 09:42 AM PST Victoria Beckham in VB design RM dress currently on sale at Net a Porter
The heat is on Victoria Beckham. The rumors have been started by the Daily Mail, one who normally gives credible sources, but this time there seems to be some confusion over the facts. We already know that Victoria doesn’t draw her own outfits, but then again some designers don’t. But there are more pressing matters afoot, such as Roland Mouret’s involvement and who VB contracted for the work. The Daily Mail claims that Victoria is using the same pattern cutter, fabric suppliers and atelier as Roland Mouret. With sources in Mouret’s fashion house speaking out, things are beginning to unravel. Well, I dont really see anything wrong with VB contracting designers, as Victoria is definitly more of a stylist with a strong sense of self than a designer herself however I dont really see this beinga good thing for Roland Mouret who’s collection in stores currently is quite similar to teh one he has he participated in for VB. If that’s not enough proof check out the label below. - via Style NOIR Related posts:

Posted: 08 Dec 2008 08:59 AM PST Emily Wells : Symphony 6 Fair Thee Well & The Requim Mix "The Symphonies: Dreams Memories & Parties" is Emily Well’s latest release. To get the sound of a full orchestra, Emily didn't take the easy way out and simply loop the layers of violins; instead, she played up to 21 separate tracks of violin on each symphony, often using an octave pedal to create the tones of an underwater cello or viola. In addition to the strings, there is a plethora of other sounds, electronic and organic alike. Two years ago, Wells found a bassist, Joey Reina, and a drummer, Sam Halterman, who add a richness to both the live show and the recordings. Their contributions to "The Symphonies" give the compositions more depth as well as a little junk in the trunk. You should absolutely not miss the opportunity to listen to the entire album, I think Chopin would have been very impressed by the mixture of classical and modern sounds Listen Here Related posts:

50 Best MAC/PC Workstation Setups Posted: 08 Dec 2008 08:56 AM PST We already reviewed some geek offices here, here is a really cool compilation of 50 Greatest MAC/PC Workstation Setups. The Lab Home office of Stefan Didak The Emotion Studio Apple Wing Spring in Cincinnati Silly Mac setup Mac setup Mac mini PVR Mac On a Wall Ultimate Mac setup New Workstation Chris Workplace My Workspace Mac Setup My desk Multi Monitor Mahem Macbook Desk Setup Leopard Fever Mac Pro Setup Mac Mini Setup Workstation setup iMac Home Office Setup Google Headquarters on six displays Workstation setup New IKEA Spotlights My Home Office
Mike's Workstation My ridiculous Mac Pro setup My Mac Setup in Shanghai Apple Cinema Display Setup Mac Setups My Messy Workspace Lights On More great setupsWhether you are working on a Mac, a PC, or even both, the way your workstation is setup tells more or less about your attitude and style of working. The workstation could also be your source of inspiration, therefore you might want to put in more thoughts on the place that you'll spend most of your time at. We crawled through the net, checking out at how people setup their workstations, focusing how what machines they use, how they are positioned, the decorations, and how other peripherals come in order. Some might think setting up a cool workstation is nothing much but an 'ego-thing' but we'll like to add a point - lots of great ideas and inspiration came from great working environment, particularly the workstation. Nike Snacks Courtesy of Sooishi Posted: 08 Dec 2008 01:29 AM PST
Speaking of edible Nikes, Swiss foodie blogger, Sooishi, collaborated for the Nike Switzerland Air event with 41 other artists. She set out some very precise lil Nike-inspired snacks. Mega-creativity and execution on this girl’s part, I can’t imagine piping those petit cheese doodles into perfect swooshes. P.S. Its amazing how much French your mind digs up when reading her blog, perhaps it’s the beautiful pics as seen on Flickr.

Posted: 07 Dec 2008 09:43 PM PST OVNI a.k.a. Anna Taratiel , this artist has a particular style of controlling the spaces with her deformed figures twisted in thin and multicolored lines. This year she has already had two solo exhibitions in Lisbon and Milano, besides taking part in the Urban Affairs Festival in Berlin next to artists like Zosen, Kafre and Tom14. In this her first solo show in Barcelona Taratiel presented structured compositions born as infinite landscapes, dimensions and colors, a true mix of organic and static shapes. - via ROJO Related posts:

Chantelle Dossier - Photography Posted: 07 Dec 2008 04:37 PM PST Photographer Chantelle Dossier photographs are simply beautiful. I love her fashion portraiture but she has a great range of editorial and commercial work. There is always a great sense of movement in her photographs no matter how close or far her subject is captured. It is quite difficult to find more extensive information on her work history but you can see more of her work here. Related posts:

The band consists of David-Ivar Herman Düne (guitars and vocals) and Néman Herman Düne (drums and sometimes backing vocals). I love their folky sound so in honor or my Sunday Blues I share with you the nostalgic, “My Home is Nowhere without You”. Listen Here Related posts:

Uncovering the 2008 Graduation Talent of Royal Academy of Fine Art Antwerpen Posted: 07 Dec 2008 10:56 AM PST I just had a chance to review the Graduating designers collections from the 2008 Royal Academy of Fine Art Antwerp. There were 2 collections that really impressed me for totally opposite reasons. Glenn Martens - April 29th, 1983 Glenn Martens graduating collections, entitled April 29, 1983, was hands down the best collection of the show. It was a great illustration of his technique, concept and sophistication. This to me was not a collection of a student but someone who had been working in the industry for years , a great use of fabrics to create extremely original silhouettes. I loved his use of layered sheers and the geometric construction of each garment.
Yu Fukumoto - The Collector Yu Fukumoto graduating collections, entitled The Collector was a beautifully told “word for word story”. A perfect example of an “A” student. Find a concept and work it out to the “T”. More often than not I have seen literal interpretations of concepts become absolute flops but thsi collection really works for me. I love the simple color palette and the detailing throughout the collection. Related posts:

21st Century Raquel by Karl Lagerfeld Posted: 07 Dec 2008 09:50 AM PST This was a really cool way to turn a basic fashion story into an extremely dynamic visual explosion of shape and color. A little photoshop can go a long way. 21st Century Raquel (Zimmerman) was shot by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Charlotte Stockdale for the last issue of V magazine.

Posted: 06 Dec 2008 08:29 PM PST Just stumbled on this typeface inspired by high heels - I wish it was a real typeface even tho it would be hard read. Zummi, the Author said about the project ” This was a fun project overall because I got the chance to explore a diverse and massive collection of High-heeled shoes, which was the main inspiration for the typeface that I have created. In the same way, I have also thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of challenging myself in creating this typeface as I have always used to have this crazy idea that creating a font was one of the hardest things to do in graphic design and going ahead with this project has surely proved me wrong.” Related posts:
