Illionaire Spring/Summer 2009/2010 Posted: 05 Jun 2009 11:40 AM PDT Designers duo Ben Woodcock and Kat Grace of Aussie label Illionaire, launched in 2006, have really taken a bold turn in the right direction within the last 2 seasons. what started out as a young unisex street brand has developed into quite a full range young designer collection. I radar sensors definitely went off after seeing last season collection, but it was a bit early to know if that direction would stick. For SS09/10 they have come back with a collection which is equally if not stronger and very collected. The prints/die techniques they used really helped to tell their story from day to night and earth to space. Channeling the solar atmosphere was a major part of their inspiration as seen on the prints and in the lookbook concept. |
Posted: 05 Jun 2009 11:15 AM PDT How cool are these Fashion Cupcakes prop-styled by Lisa Edsalv and shot by Swede photographer Therese Aldgard. As if there weren’t enough tasty treats on the runway, the duo created 5 delicious cupcakes, inspired by Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Agent Provocateur and Betsey Johnson. Looks yummy ! They promised to send me some ! From Sweden !? huh (just joking !) Thanks to Hint Mag for the Tip ! |
Cold War Kids Get Interactive On Us Posted: 05 Jun 2009 09:00 AM PDT I got a tip from Mandrew one of our Song of the Day contributors, a few weeks ago to check this out and I am really glad I finally did because this is next level interactive video. I absolutely love this concept. To promote their new single, “Ive Seen Enough”, Cold War Kids have release this interactive video directed by Sam Jones designed specifically to be presented in parallel parts online and then remixed by fans, even mid-play. What you are looking at here is a freeze frame from the video (see video here), a fully customizable viewing experience, you can alternate between four different sounds for each musician, or choose to turn them off completely. Each color is a different track so you can really play around. Go see for yourself… |
Posted: 05 Jun 2009 08:30 AM PDT The young, talented photographer Brooke Nipar has just relaunched her website and this is the third day in a row I go to check out whats on it, so that makes it a must feature for me. I have selected a range of her work that I feel represent her energy and style. Working with Missbehave Magazine as their headlining photographer for the past few years and for other alternative fashion mags like Nylon she has build her self a substantially exuberant portfolio of images featuring pop icons such as M.I.A. and electro-soul sweetheart Lykke Li just to drop a few names. Her image are raw and provocative perhaps drawing inspiration from Terry Richardson. |
Posted: 04 Jun 2009 01:48 PM PDT The creator Mia Morikawa likes to think of her KA/POW/WOW neckpieces as “little wearable sculptures… Strap on art!!" These wearable sculptures are inspired by jacobian ruffs & natural structures such as: fruit & coral and are earth friendly as well. Mia uses Freecycle to obtain some materials. She also purchases scraps from other designers, textile factories and thrift stores as often as she can. One of these will make any outfit stand out in a crowed.
